Meeting St Lazarus

The churches here in Cyprus are plentiful and wonderful. There is the church of St Lazarus just near the school. Our partner school is called the School of St Lazarus. The church has the tomb of St Lazarus in it and a one thousand year old golden decorations all over the walls. Right next door to the castle in Larnaca is a mosque which we also visited. There are special robes hanging just outside the door for ladies to wear so that they are dressed respectfully when in the mosque. Another beautiful place Keith and I have visited is a monastery in . This place has a very special holy relic. It is a piece of the rope used to tie Jesus’ hands together when he was crucified. There was a funeral happening in the chapel and the sound of the men singing was enchanting. A special place indeed.
